Hyperlipidemia, characterized by elevated levels of blood lipids and associated lipoproteins, is a major contributor to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which rank as the top causes of mortality globally. Increased lipid circulation not only triggers atherosclerosis but also increases the risk of various human diseases.

As a vertebrate, zebrafish possesses major organs and tissues found in humans. Additionally, zebrafish has a similar genomic structure to humans. Moreover, zebrafish retains remarkable similarities with humans in molecular mechanisms associated with hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis, including lipid metabolism and lipoprotein oxidation. These similarities allow the zebrafish model to serve as a surrogate to understand the underlying causes of hyperlipidemia and associated diseases in humans and to identify new therapeutic targets or dietary supplements for hyperlipidemia.

Our Zebrafish-based Scientific Evaluation of Blood Lipid Management

At Creative Biogene Zebrafish Platform, we use egg yolk powder to establish a hyperlipidemia model in zebrafish and divide zebrafish into three groups: a vehicle group, a model group, and a dietary supplement group. After a period of administration of your products, we evaluate the potential of your dietary supplements in lowering blood lipid by oil red O staining and triglyceride content. Details are as follows.

Group SettingVehicle control group
Model group
Dietary supplement group
Modeling MethodEgg yolk powder induces hyperlipidemia in zebrafish
Data DeliveryEndpoints:
  • Oil red O staining
  • TG level
