Obesity is a global epidemic that is associated with a higher risk of a multiplicity of devastating diseases. Dietary supplements, particularly those with thermogenic, lipotropic, or satiety properties, are used by many consumers to support dietary and lifestyle programs for weight management. Despite the multiple presence of dietary supplements for weight management, the dietary supplements industry is consistently exploring novel ingredients for weight management purposes that offer improved outcomes.
Zebrafish is a well-known model organism to study human disease, for their organs and tissues are similar to those of humans in terms of both structure and function. In addition, zebrafish has been reported to be an excellent model for lipid metabolism, and a useful animal model for the analysis of anti-obesity effects of natural products in a shorter time compared with rodents. Hence, zebrafish is being progressively utilized as model of human obesity and obesity-related diseases.
Our Zebrafish-based Scientific Evaluation of Weight Management
At Creative Biogene Zebrafish Platform, we use egg yolk powder to induce an obesity model in zebrafish. We divide the zebrafish into three groups, including: a control group, a model group, and a dietary supplement group. To observe the alterations in fat content within the intestine and blood vessels, we stain the zebrafish with oil red O.
Group Setting | Vehicle control group Model group Dietary supplement group |
Modeling Method | Egg yolk powder induces obesity in zebrafish |
