Macular Health Protection Evaluation
Creative Biogene Zebrafish Platform offers a comprehensive macular health protection evaluation service to assist our customers around the world in accurately evaluating the potential of your dietary supplements to maintain and promote macular health. With rigorous evaluations, we can provide supportive evidence for the effect of various dietary supplements in preserving macular integrity and function.
Wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) is a progressive and common retinal disease that causes a gradual loss of central vision. It is one of the leading causes of vision loss in older adults, and as the population continues to age, the incidence of wAMD is expected to rise. To combat the effects of Wamd, many people turn to use dietary supplements to protect their macular health. As the demand continues to grow, more and more dietary supplements claiming to protect macular health are gradually appearing on the market. However, with so many products claiming to offer these benefits, it is important for manufacturers to scientifically evaluate the health claims of their products to gain consumer trust and remain competitive in the market.

CoCl2 is a widely utilized chemical hypoxia mimic that effectively simulates hypoxic conditions. It triggers the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) during hypoxic conditions, leading to the induction of neovascularization.
At Creative Biogene, we use CoCl2 to induce age-related macular degeneration in zebrafish. We divide zebrafish into three groups, including a vehicle control group, a model group, and a dietary supplement group. Both the model and dietary supplement groups are given equal amounts of CoCl2. After administering the dietary supplements for a while, we evaluate the potential of your products to preserve macular health by observation of retinal vessels, H&E staining, and gene expression. Details are as follows.
