Anti-Photoaging Efficacy Evaluation
Creative Biogene Zebrafish Platform offers one-stop services to evaluate the anti-photoaging efficacy of your cosmetics to ensure your cosmetics meet regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating rapid market entry.
Skin aging is a complicated process and the most intuitive external presentation of the aging of the organism. Skin photoaging is a term used for the characteristic changes to skin induced by chronic UVA and UVB exposure. Its main clinical manifestations are dry and rough skin on the exposed part, deepening wrinkles, skin laxity, vasodilatation, and pigmentation. Epidemiological surveys and studies have confirmed that the development of numerous skin diseases and skin tumors is associated with skin photoaging. In recent years, there has been a growing concern among people regarding the impact of skin photoaging, which not only influences people's pursuit of beauty but also poses a threat to health.

Our Zebrafish-based Anti-Photoaging Efficacy Evaluation
- Zebrafish caudal fin morphology observation
Excess UV exposure causes photoaging, resulting in lackluster skin with wrinkles. Zebrafish fins are similar to human limbs, and their skin structure is also similar to that of humans. Extensive research has shown that UV radiation damage in zebrafish leads to a series of detrimental physiological effects, including fin atrophy and reduced surface area. At Creative Biogene, the zebrafish is incubated with your cosmetics after multiple exposures to UV radiation, followed by observing the fin damage and taking photos.

- Reactive oxygen species (ROS) level
UV is the main cause of skin photoaging. Long-term UV exposure triggers the generation of intracellular ROS, which in turn leads to oxidative damage to cells and tissues, accelerating the process of skin aging. At Creative Biogene, we evaluate anti-photoaging efficacy by measuring the level of ROS.

- Neutrophil count
As a vertebrate, zebrafish possesses a mature immune system consisting of both innate and adaptive immunity. The immune system is also affected by long-term exposure to UV radiation. In addition, the accumulation of ROS and oxidative products can facilitate the infiltration of inflammatory cells, thereby exacerbating photoaging damage in zebrafish. At Creative Biogene, we evaluate the anti-photoaging efficacy by counting the number of neutrophils.
