Our ELISA & Cytokine Detection service provides reliable quantitative analysis of cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, inflammatory mediators, and other protein biomarkers in zebrafish samples. We support projects involving zebrafish embryos, larvae, adult fish, dissected tissues, biological fluids, cell lysates, and culture supernatants.
This service is designed to help researchers characterize immune responses, inflammatory pathways, disease-associated biomarkers, drug responses, toxicological effects, and tissue repair processes at the protein level.
| Service | Best Suited to |
|---|---|
| Single-Target ELISA | Projects requiring rigorous quantification of one to several predefined proteins |
| Cytokine and Chemokine Profiling | Targeted analysis of inflammation, immunity, or infection-related proteins |
| Multiplex Assay | Projects requiring simultaneous analysis of multiple analytes from limited sample volumes |
| Feasibility and Custom Assay | Targets without readily available zebrafish-validated assays |
Final assay selection depends on target compatibility, sample type and volume, expected concentration range, replication strategy, and project objectives.
Single-target ELISA is appropriate when the priority is accurate quantification of one or a limited number of predefined proteins. Available formats include sandwich, competitive, and indirect ELISA, subject to target and reagent compatibility.
Applications include:
Each study can include standard-curve fitting, raw signals, calculated concentrations, normalization, technical replication, and statistical comparisons.
We provide targeted detection of immune- and inflammation-related proteins in zebrafish samples. This service is particularly relevant for infection, inflammation, immune regulation, tissue damage, and therapeutic-response studies.
Typical target categories include:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Pro-inflammatory cytokines | IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α |
| Anti-inflammatory cytokines | IL-10, TGF-β |
| Chemokines | IL-8/CXCL8 and selected CCL or CXCL targets |
| Interferon-associated markers | IFN-γand related targets |
| Growth and angiogenic factors | VEGF and related proteins |
| Tissue-remodeling markers | MMPs and extracellular-matrix-associated proteins |
| Custom biomarkers | Targets defined by the project |
Availability of specific targets depends on the availability of zebrafish-compatible reagents, antibody specificity, cross-reactivity validation, and sample type.
When multiple analytes must be measured from limited sample material, multiplex analysis may provide a more efficient alternative to running multiple single-analyte ELISAs.
Advantages include:
Common applications include infection studies, immunotoxicity screening, drug-response profiling, and comparisons across disease stages or treatment conditions.
The final panel is determined after feasibility review. Multiplex assays do not necessarily provide identical sensitivity or dynamic range for every analyte, and not all ELISA targets can be transferred directly to a multiplex platform.
Commercially available ELISA kits are more limited for zebrafish than for common mammalian research species. For targets without a validated zebrafish-specific kit, we can provide feasibility assessment and customized assay planning.
Possible support includes:
For complex or novel targets, we recommend initiating the project with a pilot feasibility study.
We support a wide range of zebrafish sample types:
| Sample Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Whole-organism samples | Whole embryos, whole larvae, whole juvenile fish |
| Adult tissues | Liver, intestine, heart, brain, kidney, muscle, gonad, skin, fin, and other dissected tissues |
| Biological fluids | Blood, serum, plasma, and other available fluid samples |
| Disease-model samples | Infection, inflammation, cancer xenograft, injury, regeneration, and transgenic model samples |
| Treatment samples | Drug-treated, compound-treated, toxicant-exposed, or genetically manipulated samples |
| Cell-based samples | Primary cells, zebrafish cell lines, cell lysates, and culture supernatants |
| Tissue homogenates | Fresh-frozen or appropriately preserved tissue homogenates |
Our ELISA & Cytokine Detection service supports a wide range of zebrafish research applications:
Inflammation & Immunology
Quantification of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in immune and inflammatory models.
Infection Models
Assessment of host immune responses following bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic infection.
Drug Efficacy & Toxicology
Evaluation of treatment responses, immunomodulatory effects, and toxicity-related protein biomarkers.
Cancer & Angiogenesis
Analysis of tumor-associated cytokines, growth factors, and angiogenesis-related proteins.
Development & Regeneration
Detection of protein biomarkers involved in development, tissue injury, repair, and regeneration.
All QC criteria are defined per project and documented in the final report.
